My Dad and my Uncle Earl could barely contain their enthusiasm as we
celebrated Father's Day this June 16 at my Grandparents' home in Dansville, NY.
Here, the Dads roast some hot-dogs and discuss how the rest of us could
never possibly survive without their grill skills.
With Dad and Uncle Earl serving their essential "grill duty"
out in the cold, these non-fathers are banished to a warm, fully-loaded kitchen inside the
house.
Later in the day, Aunt Marguerite wows the crowd with the debut her
amazing "cat ventriloquism" act ...
But neighborhood felines revolt in reaction to one of their kind being
called a "dummy."
God bless my dear, sweet Grandmother. It has always been
important to her that I be entertained while the "grown ups" play card games and
have adult conversations. Here, Grandma suggests that I amuse myself with this sharp
kitchen utensil. Later, she would encourage me to run through traffic while carrying
scissors.
