No, that's not an ordinary Thanksgiving turkey ... it's your host, Jeff
Thomas, who just so happened to celebrate his 33rd birthday over the Thanksgiving 2002
weekend.
First, it's a game of cards with the family. Here, Dad and I give the occasion an
enthusiastic "thumbs up," while Grandma and Grandpa are more reserved in their
praise.
Dad says that it's OK for my Web site to join us at the table, just as
long as it doesn't peek at his cards.
Mom [left] and Dad show why they are a perfect match for each other.
Here's a perfectly acceptable picture of me reading a birthday card
that was taken by my Mom, who is famous for usually obscuring her photographs by putting
her thumb over the camera's lens.
On the other hand, these were also taken by Mom. In an apparent attempt to outdo
herself, she somehow figured a way to use her thumb to block out all of the natural light
in the room for both of these photographs.
Also during my birthday weekend, two friends from college dropped into
town. Here are Christine [left] and Helen, who I met for lunch at the Ground Round
in a local shopping mall. This year, my birthday happened to fall on the day after
Thanksgiving, which from what I understand usually is a very slow day at the malls.
So you can imagine my delight when I arrived and saw that thousands of people had come out
just to join in my 33rd birthday celebration!
The guy in the tuxedo apparently went a little bit overboard with the partying and lost
his head. Or perhaps he visited Shogun Greg's
new "Supercuts" salon and asked the warrior king/stylist to "take a little
off the top."
Speaking of the Shogun, I caught up with him [left, with Dad] for even more birthday
festivities on Saturday night. Also pictured here is Chris, with me. While
it's not the best picture of either of us, you have to understand that Chris was
recovering from a case of pneumonia; I, on the other hand, have no excuse.
Mom.
[You may recognize her from her thumb.]
Here, I get a kick out of some great birthday gifts: a Monty Python shirt [from Greg] and
some cold, hard cash [from Chris]. Thanks, everyone, for a great birthday.
